Polishing + Fluoride Coating (1 Time)
Dental Scaling and Polishing is a treatment to remove a collective plaque or tartar. When the plaque is hardened, it will form into tartar and can not be eliminated by brushing the teeth. Untreated plaque building up on the teeth and gumline may lead to gum disease, tooth decay, discoloration, bad breathing, and tooth loss. Fluoride coating is an increase in tooth strength, which can be done in children from 6 months or older who have their first teeth, but most often start fluoride coating from 3 years of age or older to prevent fluoride ingestion. In addition, people aged or patients at risk of developing cavities because they brush their teeth uncleanly can be fluoride coated. But normal people who are not at risk for tooth decay may not need fluoride coating often because getting fluoride from toothpaste and mouthwash is enough. In any case, fluoride coatings must be under the supervision of a dentist.
