Fluoride coating is an increase in tooth strength, which can be done in children from 6 months or older who have their first teeth, but most often start fluoride coating from 3 years of age or older to prevent fluoride ingestion. In addition, people aged or patients at risk of developing cavities because they brush their teeth uncleanly can be fluoride coated. But normal people who are not at risk for tooth decay may not need fluoride coating often because getting fluoride from toothpaste and mouthwash is enough.
