A retainer is a removable device or tool that helps keep teeth in their original position. Prevent teeth from moving after the braces have been removed. Dentists recommend wearing a retainer at all times (except when eating or brushing teeth) for at least 6 months – 1 year, with more or less time, it will depend on the characteristics of each person's teeth. During the second year onwards patients will wear retainers only at night to maintain beautiful teeth and smile. There are 3 types of retainers: Hawley retainer (removable), Clear plastic Vivera retainers (removable), lingual wire, fixed, or bonded retainer (permanent).
